We will be increasing the RAM on our server ‘evensonfarm’ this weekend. We are scheduling the upgrade to take place during the evening or overnight hours to minimize the impact on website traffic.
What’s involved: To increase or swap out RAM, a server must be powered down, slid out from the rack, have the RAM chips removed & added, slid back into the rack and powered back up. The whole process (including the reloading of the operating system) usually takes 15 minutes or less.
What will this do to my website? This process will not cause your website to change or become corrupted, nor will it change any logins. This is strictly a hardware/performance improvement “under the hood.”
When is it happening? We will post the specific date/time the work is due to be done once it has been finalized.
If you have any questions, please let us know! :)
