[Complete] evensonfarm – kernel, Apache, PHP upgrades being performed

UPDATE 2:13 AM – COMPLETED. Apache and PHP have been upgraded; PHP is now v. 5.2.9, and we also enabled SuHosin. SuHosin is a PHP hardening/security package designed to protect against some common exploits. If you experience any problems with your PHP scripts, please contact us immediately.

The server has been rebooted to the new kernel. Approximate downtime for the reboot was from 2:09-2:12 AM. We have confirmed all services are back up and running smoothly.##

12:43 AM: We are recompiling the kernel, and upgrading Apache & PHP to the latest versions on evensonfarm.

A reboot will be necessary to boot the server onto the new kernel. We will be performing the reboot after all upgrades (including Apache & PHP) are complete.

The reboot should take a maximum of 5 minutes, unless an FSCK is required. In the event an FSCK is required, the reboot may take 20-30 minutes. This is necessary and normal maintenance, but not a cause for alarm.

[Complete] Billing/Support Center being upgraded

UPDATE – COMPLETE. The upgrade process went very smoothly; new system looks and works great! There are still some minor design and layout tweaks we’ll be making, but functionally everything is intact and working. :)

We are upgrading our billing & support center to WHMCS v.4 RC 2.

As with all Release Candidate software, it is likely to harbor a bug or two… please let us know if you encounter any bugs/oddities so we can notify the script developers to have it fixed!

We are upgrading to v.4 a little early (rather than waiting for the stable release) because v.4 has some features that we really need for our business and clients, that aren’t present in 3.8.2.

For those who are wondering, YES, we wholeheartedly recommend WHMCS. It has worked great for our needs thus far — much, much better than Modernbill ever did. :)
